Being 'Hands On'

I'm a little behind on my blogs, so I'm trying to catch up. So my August-into- September month kick off theme was LOVE. I'm switching gears a little with October by going with the theme of COMFORT and my first poem is fittingly titled "Comfort". Part of the reason I am behind on my writing is because I was providing comfort and support to my best friend who is in the midst of a health issue. I believe as Christians were are called to comfort one another as the Lord comforts us. As my poem states- 'whatever form my comfort takes, I know it is the Lord who comfort makes.' I firmly believe God does provide all the comfort we need in any situation, but I believe he uses his followers as his "hands on" comforters. Just like a child needs his mother's hug when they are sick, or scared, humans too need 'hands on' comforting. When Christ healed people, he physically laid hands on them. He could have just spoken the words, but he wanted to physically connect with them. You will see that the sense of touch is another theme that carries through on my website. I am going to take this thought further in my next blog.

Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God. 2 Corinthians 1:3-4

Carry each other's burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ. Galations 6:2
