Library 2- Portraits in Prose

Some people are able create portraits with pencil or paint, I try to create portraits with words.

Sister Talk
Inspired by my sister, which is a recurring theme. I know some sisters who don't have such a close bond, but I feel like my sister and I have a very strong and close bond.

Anatomy of a Father
Inspired by the many wonderful men in my life.

Birth Symphony
Trying to capture the wonder of giving birth.

Fathers Are
This one is about how dads show they care by doing rather than saying.

My Father
This is all about my Dad. It speaks for itself.

Anatomy of A Sister
For all of the sisters, even sisters of the heart and not blood related.

Brothers Have
I have 3 brothers, so this is a combination of all of them and the traits all brothers seem to have.

A Mother's Purse
I was always fascinated by the contents of a mom's purse and then I became a mom and understood.

I Saw Your Heart
This is one of 2 poems I wrote when I was pregnant with my last child. I knew he would be the last and want d to capture all the special moments.

My Angel
This was written for my daughter and all that she is to me. An funnily enough, she could pass as my sister's daughter because they are so much alike.

Anatomy of A Mother
For all the moms out there...

When Did You Grow Up On Me
For my oldest son.

If I Only
Trying to describe on of my oldest son's marching band shows. It was based on the Wizard of OZ.

Little Baby
This was written while pregnant with my third child specifically for him. I did not get to see him until at all until over a day and a half because of my condition and the fact he was in the NICU. I recited this to him as I held him in my arms for the first time.

Mummy
Written about my youngest son's favorite stuffy.

Laura
My sister Laura. She is 4 years older than me and we shared a room until she moved out to get marrried.

What Miracles Babies Are
A reflection on babies in general.

What Do You Dream About
Watching my oldest son sleep on day, I heard him laugh a full belly laugh in his sleep and it caused my to wonder what he was dreaming of.

Michael
This is for my middle brother, Michael, the artist.

Winkles
Written about my oldest son's favorite stuffy. The picture is of the his actual stuffed elephant that was given to him by his cousins.

My Parents
This is a poem I have adapted from another and just made it to fit the person I was writing for at the time. This was for my parents 60th wedding anniversary.

My Son
This is written for both of my sons. They both are way taller than me or my husband. It just amazes me that they came out of my body.

Your Mother
Based on a meme my daughter sent me that was in effect saying that in every life, we were always mother and daughter.

My Little Bird
Written for my daughter. I have lived away from my family for over 30 years and now that I am a mom I understand how it feels to have a daughter live far from you.
